Policies






CATERING
The House of El specialises in small, intimate events with between 2 to 50 guests. All orders require five days notice. We can do larger events, but these will require a one-on-one consultation with the client.  A customised menu is available within 48 hours. Bookings can be made by email.

ALLERGIES
Please note that our dishes may contain one or more of the following allergens:  nuts or nut butters (both tree nuts and ground nuts), gluten; fish, shellfish or seafood; sesame seeds; eggs or egg substitutes; dairy; soy or soy products; citrus; peppers or other spicy condiments. If in doubt please ask.

PAYMENT
Once a client approves and signs a menu and quotation (either in person or via email), 50 per cent down payment is required before we start work on your event. This consists of a security deposit (20 per cent) and food cost (30 per cent).  An event may be canceled up to ten (10) days beforehand; however, only security deposit will be returned. If the event is cancelled less than ten days before an event is scheduled, no refund is owed to the customer. Any refund will be at the discretion of management.

LEFTOVER EVENT FOOD
The House of El Catering will make every effort to guarantee that the client does not run out of food at the event, assuming that their contracted guest count is similar to their actual turnout. If any food remains at the end of the event, the House of El Catering will, at its discretion, package any food that is safe for consumption. For example, if the client contracts for 200 guests and only 100 guests turnout and the House of El Catering determines that the food has been kept at the safe and proper temperature, the client would receive approximately the amount of food that is the difference between the contracted amount of guests and the actual turnout. In the above example, assuming the food could be kept at the proper and safe temperature, the client would receive 100 portions.

The House of El Catering will NOT offer any remaining food:

  • if the event location does not have proper and adequate refrigeration,
  • if the actual guest turnout equals or exceeds the guaranteed guest count,
  • if the food has been left out on the buffet or station for more than four hours
  • if the House of El Catering deems the food not safe for human consumption

LIABILITY
The House of El Catering will not be liable for any loss due to any circumstances which include, but not  exclusively, breakdown of machinery, failure of supply of electricity or other utilities, leakage of water,  fire, flood, explosion, strike or labour dispute, external road or building works, Government restrictions,  Force Majeure, act of terrorism or any circumstances outside the control of the House of El Catering which may cause the event to be interrupted or cancelled.

No liability is accepted for loss, damage or consequential loss, except to the extent required by law caused by the House of El Catering failing to perform its obligations (whether that failure is due to negligence on the part of the House of El Catering, its partners, employees or due to other causes).

LUNCH MEALS
Our lunch meals are made and delivered fresh daily. If not consumed within 30 minutes of delivery, please refrigerate until consumption.

The white/cream baggasse containers that we use can be reheated in the microwave or in a 350 degrees Farenheit for 10 to 15 minutes. Please remove the lid before heating. Our clear PLA containers cannot be reheated at all; contents must be put into a oven or microwave-ready container.

The House of El Catering is not responsible for food not stored properly or not reheated properly after delivery.
